Legacy Travel Award
The Award
Current CAs in good standing should consider applying for the Legacy Travel Award, an award up to $750.00 to assist an Academy member with travel and lodging expenses related to attending the annual Academy business meeting.
Recipients of the Award are expected to travel to the host city, attend the annual business meeting of the Academy, and submit receipts for travel and lodging. The previous year’s recipient will serve on the Award Selection Committee (ASC) for the current year.
Recipients may be asked to make a brief statement at the business meeting and/or submit an article for the newsletter.

Award Selection Committee (ASC)
The ASC will consist of the previous year’s recipient, Academy President, and Academy Past President.
Award Selection Guidelines
The ASC shall take into account the following factors when choosing a recipient. The ASC may choose not to grant an award if they feel that none of the applications are strong.
- Financial need – Those without institutional support and who demonstrate greater need will be given preference over those with support or lesser need. The ASC may also consider distances to be travelled and whether the member has been able to attend previous annual meetings.
- Length of time in the profession – Newer professionals (less than 5 years active) will generally be given preference over seasoned professionals, with the idea that there will be a greater period of time for them to serve as leaders in the Academy.
- Leadership potential – has this person shown interest in the Academy in the application letter or through other activities to indicate enthusiasm for the Academy and its activities?
